PRESEASON (OCTOBER 31-DECEMBER 17)

WEEK 1 (NOV 7-11)

-Practice begins Monday at 3pm immediately after school.  Tuesday through Friday practice will run from 2:45-5:30.  This Friday is a school holiday.  We will be running practice at College in the morning (9am-noon).  All wrestlers must have their athletic emergency form filled out by this point.  All wrestlers should have wrestling shoes.  Shoes can be bought at Copelands, Big-5, Sportmart, or through a wrestling magizine.  We will be checking out the rest of the gear once all fall athletes have come out for the sport.   

-Hygeine-Wrestlers should be showering with soap and water immediately after practice each day.  Clothing used in practice should go directly in the wash when they get home. 

-Participation Contribution-The requested fee for this years wrestling season is $175. 

-Spirit Packs-We will be offering spirit packs which will include 4 team t-shirt, shorts, and a back pack/sling for $50.

**We will be offering several fundraisting opportunities for our athletes to help defer these costs.  Unfortunately with distirct funding being cut for

athletics we must work together to fund our programs.**

-The College Park Wrestling team has built a tradition of success, winning more League Championships than any other team on campus, and would like to welcome anyone willing to put in the time and hard work to join our program.  We are looking forward to a great season and working with all of our dedicated student/athletes, rookies and veterans.

 

WEEK 2 (NOV 14-18)

-This week practice will proceed at the normal times for everyone.  We will conduct a 1 hour extended practice for returners only with Leroy Monday and Wednesday this week. 

-Weight Certification will be conducted this Thursday Nov.18 during practice.  We will send paperwork home concerning this process or you can visit www.nwcaonline.com for more information.  Wrestlers must bring $10 to cover certification.  All wrestlers must certify before they can compete.

 

WEEK 3 (NOV 21-25)-THANKSGIVING BREAK

-This week is Thanksgiving Break but we will still have practice. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday we will be having practice for everyone from 9am-noon in the small gym at CP.   There will be a mandatory second practice on Monday and Tuesday evening from 6pm-8pm for all individuals hoping to make the varsity lineup this season. 

We will have a second Weight Certification on Tuesday for those who missed on Thursday.  There will be no practice on Thursday or Friday.

 

WEEK 4 (NOV 28-DEC 2)

-This is a very busy week.  On Monday practice will be at normal time.  We will set our first weight class ladders with challenges.  All wrestlers will be paired up with an opponent for the intersquad match.  The finals matches for the #1 Varsity spot will take place on the center mat at the intersquad.  All wrestlers who have not received gear should get gear after practice in the mat room on Monday.

-Intersquad/Parent Meeting-(Tuesday, Nov. 29) All wrestlers will report to the mat room immediately after school today.  Challenge assignments and preparation directions for the intersquad will take place.  Varsity hopefuls will then have a 1 hour intensive work out in preparation for Newark.  All wrestlers will then need to report to the mat room at 6pm to help set up for the intersquad.  Parents will meet in the J-Wing at 6pm for our parent meeting for important information about the upcoming season.  After the completion of the parent meeting we will transition to the large gym for a brief wrestling clinic to introduce our rookie parents to the sport.  At 7pm the intersquad meet will begin, giving all of our wrestlers a chance to wrestle. 

*NOTE-Starting this week we will be conducting split Var/JV practices based on the results of the intersquad matches.

-Scrimmage at Granada HS-(Wednesday,Nov. 30) Granada HS (400 WALL ST LIVERMORE 94550) We will be having our annual scrimmage with Freedom, Granada, and Castro Valley at Granada HS.  All wrestlers will have the opportunity to wrestle several scrimmage matches against opponents from other schools.  We will depart College Park by bus at 12:02pm.  Wrestling will begin as soon as teams arrive at Granada HS around 1pm.  Wrestlers will weigh in on site to ensure safe scrimmage variations.  We should return back to College Park at approximately 6:30pm.

-Varsity at Newark Duals-(Fri-Sat, Dec. 2-3) Newark Memorial HS (39375 Cedar Blvd, Newark 94560) This is our first varsity competition of the season.  We will be departing from CP on Friday at 10am.  Friday weigh-ins will be at noon and wrestling will start at 2:00pm.  WE WILL NEED PARENT DRIVERS. 

-JV at Vallejo-(Saturday, Dec. 3) VALLEJO HS(840 NEBRASKA ST VALLEJO 94590) All non-varsity wrestlers will get to compete in pooled weight classes in Frosh-Soph or JV division.  Our bus will depart CP at 6:15am.  Wrestling will begin around 9:00am.  Wrestlers should return home by bus before 6PM.

 

WEEK 5 (DEC 5-9)

-Reminder that all practices will be split from now on unless otherwise noted.  JV 2:45-5:30 and Varsity 5:00-7:30.

-DVAL area Novice at Northgate-(Wednesday, Dec. 7)   Northgate HS (425 Castle Rock Road, Walnut Creek 94598)  Our DVAL area Novice tournament will be at Northgate HS.  All novice wrestlers will weigh-in on Tuesday after practice for this scrimmage event.  Novice wrestling will begin at 5:00pm.  Varsity practice will start at the normal time in the mat room.  We will need parent drivers for this event.

-Larry Lasater Memorial JV Duals at CP-(Saturday, Dec. 10)   We will be hosting our 6th annual Larry Lasater Duals in the College Park gym.  All wrestlers will need to report to CP at 6:20am.  Weigh-ins will begin at 6:30am and be scratch.  Wrestling will begin at 9:00am sharp and we will be completing 5 dual matches.

  **ATTENTION PARENTS-WE WILL BE REQUIRING PARENT HELP AT THESE HOSTED EVENTS.  EXPECT A CALL FROM OUR TEAM PARENTS.

-Varsity at Hollister Duals-(Saturday, Dec. 10) San Benito HS (1220 Monterey ST Hollister 95023) We will be departing from CP at 5:15am.  Weigh-ins are at 7am and wrestling is scheduled to begin at 9am.  WE WILL NEED PARENT DRIVERS.

 

WEEK 6 (DEC 12-16)

-Varsity at Elk Grove Duals-(Saturday, Dec. 17)  Elk Grove HS (9800 Florin RD Elk Grove 95624)  We will be leaving early on Saturday morning for 7:00am weigh-ins.  Wrestling will begin at 9:00am and continue until we have wrestled 5 duals.  WE WILL NEED PARENT DRIVERS.

-JV at James Logan-(Saturday, Dec. 17)  James Logan HS (1800 H Street, Union Cily 94587)  ) All non-varsity wrestlers will get to compete in pooled weight classes in Frosh-Soph or JV division.  We will depart CP at 6:15am.  Wrestling will begin around 9:00am.  We should return around 5pm.   WE WILL NEED PARENT DRIVERS.

 

WINTER BREAK (DECEMBER 19-DECEMBER 30)

WEEK 7 (DEC 19-23)

This is the first week of winter break.  We will be conducting practice at 9am-noon for everyone on Monday Dec. 19 in the College Park small gym.  Monday evening we will need to meet to set up for our Hosted JV 5 Match.

-Clyde Forrest JV 5 Match-(Tuesday, Dec. 20) We will be hosting this JV event in the College Park Gym’s.  Weigh-ins will begin at 6:30am and will be pooled weight.  Wrestling will begin at 9:00am sharp and we will be completing 5 rounds of wrestling for everyone.  Varsity wrestlers will have practice in the mat room at 11am. 

**ATTENTION PARENTS-WE WILL BE REQUIRING PARENT HELP AT THESE HOSTED EVENTS.  EXPECT A CALL FROM OUR TEAM PARENTS.

For the remainder of the week we will have practice from 9am-noon on Wednesday and Thursday for Varsity and Varsity hopefuls only.

 

WEEK 8 (DEC 26-DEC 30)

-We will conduct a varsity only practice on Monday from 5-8pm in the mat room.

-On Tuesday will have a morning practice prior to leaving for the Sierra Nevada Classic

-Varsity at Sierra Nevada Classic-(Tues-Wed Dec. 27-28) Reno Livestock Center (1350 Wells Ave, Reno 89502)  We will be leaving CP on Monday evening.  The team will be staying at the Silver Legacy Resort. The tournament website is www.sierranevadaclassic.com .  There will be no further practices during winter break unless otherwise indicated by the coaching staff. 

 

REGULAR SEASON (JANUARY 2-FEBRUARY 10)

WEEK 9 (JAN 2-6)

-Monday, Jan. 2-This is a school holiday.  We will be running a varsity practice at 6pm in the mat room.  Practice on Tuesday will proceed at the normal times.

-DVAL DUAL vs Mt. Diablo at CP-(Wednesday, Jan. 4)   This is our first League Dual of the season.  Wrestlers will need to be in the mat room by 4:30 to check weight and set up for the dual.  Weigh-ins will begin at 5pm.  JV wrestling will begin at 6pm and Varsity will face off at 7pm. 

-Varsity Select at Doc Buchanan-(Fri-Sat, Jan. 7-8) Clovis HS (1055 Fowler Ave. 93611) This is an invite only for our more seasoned wrestlers.  We will be travelling to Clovis on Thursday evening.  More information to follow.

-Varsity at Granada-(Saturday, Jan. 7)  Granada HS (400 WALL ST LIVERMORE 94550) We will be departing from CP at 6:15am.  Weigh-ins are at 7am and wrestling will begin around 9am. WE WILL NEED PARENT DRIVERS.

 

WEEK 10 (JAN 9-13)

-DVAL DUAL vs Clayton Vally at CV-(Wednesday, Jan. 11)   Clayton HS (1101 Alberta Way,  Concord 94521)This is our second League Dual of the season.  Wrestlers will need to be in the mat room by 4:00 to check weight and get on the bus.  Weigh-ins will begin at 5pm.  JV wrestling will begin at 6pm and Varsity will face off at 7pm. 

-JV at Albany-(Saturday, Jan. 14) Albany HS (603 Key Route Blvd, Albany 94706)    All non-varsity wrestlers will get to compete in pooled weight classes in Frosh-Soph or JV division.  We will depart CP at 6:15am.  Wrestling will begin around 9:00am.  We should return around 5pm.   WE WILL NEED PARENT DRIVERS.

 

WEEK 11 (JAN 16-20)

-Monday, Jan. 17-This is a school holiday.  We will be running a varsity practice at 5pm in the mat room.  Practice on Tuesday will proceed at the normal times.

-THE DREAM (Monday, Jan. 16)  San Rafael HS (185 Mission Ave. San Rafael 94901) Depending on match count we may send a select group of wrestlers to “The Dream” on MLK day.  More info to follow.

-DVAL DUAL vs Concord at Concord-(Wednesday, Jan. 18)  Concord HS (4200 Concord Blvd. Concord 94521)   This is our third League Dual of the season.  Wrestlers will need to be in the mat room by 4:00 to check weight.  Weigh-ins will begin at 5pm.  JV wrestling will begin at 6pm and Varsity will face off at 7pm.  WE WILL NEED PARENT DRIVERS.

-Foothill Invitational-(Fri-Sat, Jan. 6-7)  Memorial Auditorium (1515 J St, Sacramento 95814)  We will be departing CP Thursday evening after practice for this two day event.

-Mark Lance FS/JV-(Saturday, Jan. 21) We will be hosting this JV event in the College Park Gym’s.  Weigh-ins will begin at 6:30am and will be pooled weight.  Wrestling will begin at 9:00am sharp.  All non-varsity wrestlers will be expected to set up and participate in this event.

WEEK 12 (JAN 23-27)

-FINALS WEEK-Wednesday through Friday this week students will be taking their semester finals.  School will be getting out at 12:30 and we will be conducting practice immediately after school for everyone so students may use the rest of the day to study.  Tuesday before finals will also be an early day for everyone.   There are no dual matches this week.

-Picture Day-(Friday, Jan. 20)   We will be taking team pictures in the small gym and mat room.  Wrestlers must meet JV or Varsity attendance requirements to be included in the team photo.  Team photos are taken by HOME TEAM PHOTOGRAPHY.

-Varsity at Puma Classic-(Saturday, Jan.  28)   Maria Carillo HS (6975 Montecito Blvd. Santa Rosa 95409)   We will be departing from CP at 5:45am.  Weigh-ins are at 7am and wrestling is scheduled to begin at 9am.  We will not be late this year.  WE WILL NEED PARENT DRIVERS.

-JV at Liberty-(Saturday, Jan. 28) Liberty HS (850 Second Street, Bentwood 94513)  All non-varsity wrestlers will get to compete in pooled weight classes in Frosh-Soph or JV division.  Our bus will depart CP at 6:15am.  Wrestling will begin around 9:00am.  Wrestlers should return home by bus before 6PM.  WE WILL NEED PARENT DRIVERS.

 

WEEK 13 (JAN 30-FEB 3)

-DVAL DUAL YV at CP-(Wednesday, Feb. 1)   This is our fourth DVAL Dual of the season.  Wrestlers will need to be in the mat room by 4:30 to check weight and set up for the dual.  Weigh-ins will begin at 5pm.  JV wrestling will begin at 6pm and Varsity at 7pm.

-VarsIty at Mission San Jose Invitational- (Fri-Sat, Feb. 3-4)   Mission San Jose HS (41717 Palm Avenue, Fremont 94539)   We will be departing from CP on Friday at 10am.  Friday weigh-ins will be at noon and wrestling will start at 2:00pm.  We will need drivers for this two day event.  The tournament website is www.msjwrestlingtournament.com .

-JV at Freedom Duals-(Saturday, Feb. 4)   Freedom HS (1050 Neroly Road, Oakley 94561)   We will be departing from CP at 6:15am.  Weigh-ins are at 7am and wrestling is scheduled to begin at 9am.   WE WILL NEED PARENT DRIVERS.

 

WEEK 14 (FEB 6-10)

-DVAL DUAL vs North Gate at CP-(Wednesday, Feb. 8)   This is our fifth and final League Dual of the season.  .  Wrestlers will need to be in the mat room by 4:30 to check weight and set up fro the dual.  Weigh-ins will begin at 5pm.  JV wrestling will begin at 6pm and Varsity at 7pm.

 

POST SEASON (FEBRUARY 11-MARCH 3)

-NCS DUALS-(Saturday, Feb. 11) Foothill HS (4375 Foothill Rd, Pleasanton 94558)  All wrestlers regardless of level should be prepared to wrestle at this event.

 

WEEK 15 (FEB 13-17)

-Monday, Feb. 13-This is a school holiday.  We will be running a varsity practice at 5pm in the mat room.  Practice on Tuesday will proceed at the normal times.

-Varsity and JV DVAL Championships at CP-(Wednesday, Feb. 15)   This is our last competition for our JV crew.  For the varsity this is the first qualifier for the State Championship Series.  We will be setting up during school.  Weigh-in will take place around 2pm and wrestling should begin around 3pm. 

**ATTENTION PARENTS-WE WILL BE REQUIRING PARENT HELP AT THESE HOSTED EVENTS.  EXPECT A CALL FROM OUR TEAM PARENTS.

-Equipment Return-(Friday, Feb. 17)  All wrestlers not moving forward to North Coast Section will need to meet in the mat room immediately after school today to return all gear that has been checked out.  Spring and summer wrestling information will be available at this point.  All gear must be turned in before wrestlers are eligible to tryout for a spring sport.  Good luck.

-NCS Seeding Meeting-(Sunday, Feb. 19)   All North Coast Section League representatives will be meeting at College Park HS to seed and set the NCS brackets.  The NCS has retained its four State Qualifiers for the 2010-2011season.

 

WEEK 16 (FEB 20-24)

-Monday, Feb. 20-This is a school holiday.  We will be running a varsity practice at 5pm in the mat room.  Practice on Tuesday will proceed at the normal times.

-Varsity at North Coast Section-(Fri-Sat, Feb. 24-25)   Newark Memorial HS (39375 Cedar Blvd, Newark 94560) We will be departing for NCS on Thursday evening.  The tournament website is www.cifncs.org .   

 

WEEK 17 (MARCH 4-5)

-Varsity at CIF State Championships-(Fri-Sat, March 4-5)   Rabobank Arena (1001 Truxtun Avenue, Bakersfield 93301)   We will be departing for Bakersfield on Thursday afternoon.  The tournament website is www.cifstate.org .
