ATHLETE CHECK LIST

Below is a list of things to take care of before practice begins.  Practice begins November, 7th.  Testing week begins October 31st.

 

1.  ATHLETE EMERGENCY FORM:  Due 1st day of practice.  You will not be allowed to practice with the team until your parent has filled out all the information on this form, and obtained a doctor’s signature.  This means make a doctors appointment for a physical as soon as possible.  (If you competed in a fall sport I will need a copy of your physical).

 

2. EJECTION POLICY AND STUDENT CONTRACT: Due 1st day of practice.  Athletes will not be allowed to practice with the team unless these forms have been returned to the coach having been read, understood and signed by the student and parent.  This contract is part of the emergency form and can be downloaded from this site.

 

 

3. WRESTLING CONTRACT:  Due 1st day of practice.  Athletes will not be allowed to participate until this has been read and signed by student and parent.

 

4. ELIGIBILITY:  Each grade period.  Athletes will not be issued a uniform or be allowed to compete as a member of the team without achieving the minimum standard for sport participation.  This requires the student to have at least a 2.0 GPA for the most recent quarter grading period.

 

5. SHOES: You will need wrestling shoes and running shoes for the first day of practice.

 

6. PARTICIPATION DONATION:  This season UMDAF is asking for $175 per athlete to help the keep our athletic programs alive.  We are hoping to fundraise $300-$400 per athlete to help cover our costs.

 

7. SPIRIT PACK: We will be making available again this season a team spirit pack.  This year will include two workout shirts, two long sleeve shirts, short and a team sling.  The cost will be $50 for those who wish to purchase gear.

 

IF YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH #1 THROUGH #7 ON THIS LIST BEFORE THE SEASON BEGINS YOU WILL BE SET FOR A FUN AND EXCITING SEASON.

 

FALCON WRESTLING CONTRACT

1. Consistent Practice Attendance: Each athlete is expected to attend ALL practices!  Athletes must avoid conflicts with daily practice. If the athlete has a valid reason for missing practice (emergency or illness), the athlete MUST notify the coach prior to the practice that will be missed!!!  A Varsity wrestler may not miss more than 4 practice sessions or scheduled competitions during the season.  A JV wrestler may not miss more than 10 practice sessions or scheduled competitions. Arriving late to practice will be considered as ˝ of an absence.  Excused absences and tardies may be made up at the discretion of the coach. ATHLETES FAILING TO FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE MAY BE HELD OUT OF COMPETITION OR BE REMOVED FROM THE TEAM. (Practices are every Monday through Friday.  JV practices are from 2:45 to 5:30pm and Varsity practices are from 5:00  to 7:30 pm.) 


2. Punctuality: Each athlete is expected to arrive at practice and at competitions ON TIME and prepared! No exceptions! LATENESS WILL RESULT IN EXTRA DUTY...IF LATENESS BECOMES CHRONIC, YOU WILL BE DROPPED FROM THE TEAM.

3. Practice Apparel: Each athlete is required to wear WRESTLING SHOES, T-SHIRT, AND SHORTS OR SWEAT PANTS to practice.

4. Meet Uniforms: Team singlets and warm ups are to be worn at all competitions. Athletes are expected to step off the bus wearing team apparel! Warm ups shall remain on at all times before and after your matches! This is important for warming-up, mental focus, and team unity. WASHING INSTRUCTIONS FOR SINGLETS: Wash in cold, hang dry! DO NOT PUT IN DRYER!

5. Athlete Conduct: Falcon Wrestling Team Members are responsible for continuing our tradition of exemplary conduct! Please take seriously the commitment you must make to support your teammates, contribute to our sport, and act responsibly in every situation. Team members will interact with their coaches, teammates, and opponents in a mature and rational manner. Under NO circumstances are athletes allowed to dispute rulings with officials! Athletes and parents must maintain their composure and let their coach deal with the situation.  FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS PROTOCOL IS GROUNDS FOR DISQUALIFICATION FROM COMPETITION AND SUSPENSION FROM THE TEAM.

6. Transportation to and from Competition: MDUSD, CPHS, and Team policy regarding student-athlete transportation will be followed WITHOUT exception! This policy is as follows: Athletes transported from CPHS to an away competition via district bus must also return to CPHS via district bus or be released to their legal guardian at the competition site. Athletes will not be released to anyone other than a legal guardian. Friends, relatives, neighbors, etc., are NOT legal guardians. Team policy further requires that any athlete not returning to CPHS with the team via district bus give the head coach verbal notification and visual confirmation of the presence of a legal guardian before departure. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE PROCEDURES WILL RESULT IN SUSPENSION FROM THE TEAM.

 

7. EVERYONE is responsible for rolling, cleaning, and setting up mats.

 

8. Health and Safety: Report any unusual skin conditions immediately.  You will be tired.  You will be sore and you will ache.  These are not injuries.  Your body will acclimate to the rigors of the sport. If you believe you are injured check with a coach immediately before being sent to the trainer.  Keep coaches informed of progress of all injuries.  This is a contact sport!
